TEHRAN -- An exhibition of calligraphy works will open on December 14 in Tehran’s Niavaran Cultural Historical Complex celebrating the 150th anniversary of the translation of Khayyam’s Rubaiyat into English by Edward FitzGerald.

Khayyam is chiefly known to English-speaking readers through the translation of a collection of his quatrains in the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam (1859), by the English writer Edward FitzGerald (1809-1883).
Scholar Mohammad-Ali Eslami Nodushan is sceduled to make a speech at the ceremony to which several foreign ambassadors and Iranian scholars have also been invited.
The collection slated to go on display contains 60 artworks featuring a combination of Persian and Latin calligraphy works along with beautiful illumination and miniature works.
The exhibit, which will be at the Sahebqaranieh Palace, is open to the public.
